The Opus X Oro Oscuro was released in 2015, following the Don Carlos 80th and the Don Carlos Eye of the Shark from Fuente. They have a Dominican Rosado Oscuro wrapper that is clearly distinguishable and much darker than the standard Chateau de la Fuente OpusX wrapper. The Oro Oscuro is a limited-edition, full-bodied premium cigar that is made from the finest tobaccos grown at Chateau de la Fuente in the Dominican Republic. This all-Dominican puro sports a delicious, dark chocolatey maduro wrapper that has been specially fermented and aged.
This cigar delivers a nutty, spicy, and earthy flavor profile with underlying notes of pepper, toffee, and vanilla. It’s a very even-keeled cigar and typically doesn’t meander too far outside these parameters, delivering the same, great profile whether you smoke faster or slower. Construction is flawless and rolled expertly, with the foot ribbon sliding off with a light pull.
Additional Information
Since these are truly limited, finding them for an extended period of time is difficult. Price is what is to be expected from one of Fuente’s finest, and this certainly doesn’t qualify for an everyday smoke -well at least not for the average cigar smoker. If you haven’t tried one, it’s definitely an ‘A List’ cigar and won’t disappoint if earthy notes are in your wheelhouse. The Fuente Opus X Oro Oscuro literally sets the standard for excellence and perfection for the craft.
